The New York Times (you know, those idiots who give huge illegal advertising discounts to anti-Bush groups like MoveOn) are losing it. And no, I'm not talking about their minds - they never had those to begin with...

Late last week the NYT ran a total smear piece against John McCain that was so blatantly off the wall that 66% of Americans think that the story only had the insidious purpose of smearing the McCain camp. Even the executive editor of the Times himself admitted that the story was a massive failure.

So did the NYT learn anything from this rather embarrassing experience? Of course not! They decided to publish yet another bogus anti-McCain story:

The question has nagged at the parents of Americans born outside the continental United States for generations: Dare their children aspire to grow up and become president? In the case of Senator John McCain of Arizona, the issue is becoming more than a matter of parental daydreaming.

Mr. McCain’s likely nomination as the Republican candidate for president and the happenstance of his birth in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 are reviving a musty debate that has surfaced periodically since the founders first set quill to parchment and declared that only a “natural-born citizen” can hold the nation’s highest office.
A musty debate?? Oh, you must be referring to the debate that was settled by our Founding Fathers almost 220 years ago when they signed the Naturalization Act of 1790 stating that "the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens".

It's sad that I have to do the NYT's homework for them. Keep in mind, those words penned over 200 years ago have not been contested since they were written, but that doesn't stop the NYT from running their second unfounded McCain smear piece in a week anyway.

Maybe that's why only 24% of Americans have a favorable opinion of you guys.

My only question is this: If you hippies over at NYT hate McCain so much, why did you formally endorse him in the first place?!
